In a region of great Italian food, Colarusso's stands out in its cool Dickson City setting. Generous fresh salads (great Caesar), nice twist on the wings and as good as you'll find brick oven pizzas. Bartenders (worth visiting for the bar alone) were not shy with their work and it was much appreciated. No suggestions on the food or the service but in our opinion the coolness could use a touch of warmth (not sure how) and it probably wouldn't hurt the bottom line if they could add some street signage to help in finding the place or just generating some interest from passer-bys. Will definitely return next trip to Scranton. If you're tired of all the fast food joints in the area, spend a few extra bucks and try this place out.

Delicious, legitimate Italian food. The pizza sauce is fresh and it's clear that they use high-quality ingredients. I've had their house salad, one of their sandwiches (something with roasted red peppers and mozzarella, forget the name), and penne vodka as well, and everything has been delicious and served in generous portions. For those wondering, I would describe coal-fired pizza as very similar to brick oven style. Slightly more charred on the bottom though. NEPA residents, take note: this is what pizza should taste like!

You have to get past the non-descript location at a strip mall and you'll find a great little restaurant. We easily shared a house salad (for 2) between 4 of us. The pizza oven baked seasoned wings were really good, different than the usual buffalo style. The star was the 2 different pizzas - nice crispy and slightly charred crust! We had the simple Sophia Loren (wonderful fresh mozzarella) and one we made up with sausage/pepperoni/caramelized onions. Really worth the stop!

What puts this place over the top is their creativity and their specials. They really know what they are doing. Who makes Shrimp Alfredo pizza? They do and it is AWESOME! I never would have thought in a million years that I would crave Shrimp Alfredo pizza. Their crust is delicious, chewing and so tasty and they use top of the line ingredients. All their pies are great. Their mac and cheese is wonderful for kids while you wait for the pizza to be done and I have yet to try a soup that didn't taste great. I am so happy to have found this place!

We had the salad for two, it was huge. Could probably be enough for 4. We had the shrimp and hot pepper pizza. Different and very good. They also have martini selections for the holiday. Gingerbread was good. I would highly recommend this place. It's atmosphere is nice and modern. Great place for a family or a date.

We arrived for a late lunch on Friday (01/30/2015) around 3:45PM. A young woman took our drink order promptly. When she returned (equally as quickly), she brought our menus. Now, let me be clear, there was only one other couple in the dining area and one couple at the bar. Ten minutes pass. Our server is still chatting with the couple at the bar and all other servers are gathered in the back texting and talking on their phones. Fifteen minutes pass. Same. Now, at this point, we are simply curious when this person, or management, or anyone will notice they have completely disregarded one of the three sets of customers in the entire establishment. Nearly twenty minutes passed since we were given the menus when the server came to our table and asked if we were ready. Ready? Well, we were ready about seventeen minutes ago. We stated that we would pay for the one drink we ordered (the other drink was a water) and that we were leaving. The young woman wanted us to have some take-out. We obviously declined ... I mean, if it took nearly twenty minutes to get to this point, how long would it take to get actually food. I can only imagine that there must be a good deal of chatting and texting that would have to come first. She said the drink was on the house and apologized. We went to China Palace (across the street) ... they are so professional there! I can assure you, we will never return to Colarusso's.

Love this place!!! The food is top notch, the service is great. I can't stand up the people who complain about their take out pizza being mushy or soggy.... Here is a tip.... PICK IT UP ON TIME! The wings are amazing, the chicken marsala is my favorite. They always have unique pizza special every week!!! Make sure you check out the drink specials, i don't know where they get the ideas for them, but they are delicious.

I give it three stars. I got chicken wings and a small Bianco. The Bianco was good. Their crust is the correct amount of chewy and crispy that coal fired pizza is famous for. The riccotta was overwhelming. The wings were dry and under seasoned.

Absolutely perfect service, cheap wine, and amazing pizza. I had the Sophia Loren with half roasted long hots... amazing. The cheese was fresh and the sauce was delicious. The table also shared an order of meatballs as an appetizer. Great sauce - lots of garlic in the meatballs, too. They were not the best I've ever had, but they were good. My friends and I were really impressed with the classy but laid back atmosphere as well.

Adding a star and adding to my initial review. After trying the Patti's Eggplant pizza, I'm hooked. It was probably the best thin crust pizza with breaded eggplant I've ever had. I'm not sure what they do to the eggplant to make it so amazing but it truly is to die for. If you like eggplant, make sure you try this pizza. Heck, even if you don't typically like eggplant you should probably give it a whirl.

I don't usually rave about pizza but this was one of the more unique places to go as far as the texture of the dough is concerned. One would think the black soot from the coal oven would leave it tasting burnt but that was far from the case. If it was, the cheese and sauce add plenty of flavor to overpower any other non-desirable residual tastes. Yum...

Stopped in for a heart-shaped pizza on Valentine's Day (a Friday night, nonetheless) without a reservation around 6pm. Was seated within 15 minutes and had fantastic service and flawless food. I'll certainly be back to Colarusso's in the future, you've made me a fan!

The food is good and the service is fine. However, the last time I was there I asked for the other half of my sub wrapped up they gave it to me BENT IN HALF in a box that was way to small. It was bizarre, they had to force it in there. It was a mess and, needless to say, I left it there.

Hands down best round pizza in the valley! Wings are different but SOOOOO DELICIOUS!!!!! Staff is super friendly and attentive, and you shan't be finding a cleaner place. I dare you to. I've only been here a few times but their food always lights my taste buds up like a pinball machine. You're doing yourself an injustice by not going here for lunch or dinner.

Have been to Colarusso's several times on separate road trips. Pizza is excellent, the very best I've had anywhere outside of NYC. My all time favorite pizza is from Totonno's, and this is in the same style- thin crust, flecks of charring on the bottom from the high heat... good pizza selections or basic toppings to design your own. For you locals, this is not "Old Forge" style. I recommend the classic but the margarita is also great. They also have a bar a few with drafts, Yuengling (this is still PA), and the like... Out of respect for Totonno's I can't give any other pizza five stars but this is worthy.

Will not be returning here. I have been there a few times bc pizza is alright.. However don't try to sit and talk with friends or family bc you are given a time limit. After spending over 100 dollars between 3 ppl, we were asked to leave bc you were there too long. I'm sorry, that's the worst customer service I have ever witnessed in my life. The food is not that impressive to return here.

Long and short - this is a restaurant in a strip mall. The food is better than what you would expect, the ambiance is exactly what you would expect. Pizza is good. The baked "Italian" wings are very good. Meatballs are good. Mac and cheese is very good. A better draft beer selection could earn another star, as could more attentive service. Would I go back? Yes, it is a very good choice if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels.

The 5 star oven roasted Italian wings with onions pushed this review to 4 stars. The place is large and open and could get noisy I'm sure. Rustic style to it, but really nothing much on atmosphere. The traditional pizza was thin crust and coal fired which I really like, but the pizza overall was just mediocre. I think it could use more Italian seasoning. Next time I will try a specialty pizza for some more flavor. The tiramisu was good, but strong (liquor and cocoa powder) and I did not like the cannoli filling at all (too sweet). I like to taste ricotta in my cannoli filling. But the wings...OMG! I do not usually eat wings and these were phenomenal. I was sorry I didn't get the larger order. I can't wait to have them again.

This is the newest NEPA establishment bearing the Colarusso name, a name that is locally synonymous with Old Forge style pizza served in a cozy, small-town kind of place. That's not what you'll find here, however. What you will find is... well, delicious, but what is it? Is it a robust flatbread? Is it NY style that ditched its crust someplace in NJ? Is there some Greek action going on in its slightly charred surface? Whatever it is, I'm a fan of the fresh punch of tomato and basil, the crust that manages to be simultaneously crispy and chewy, and the cheese that stays firmly in place. As an added bonus, let's get nerdy for a second... a 12" pizza is $9.95 while a 16" pizza is $12.95. Remember your geometric formulas from 8th grade? Pi multiplied by the radius squared... okay, I'll just cut to the chase: for 20% more money you get 78% more pizza. How awesome is that? The chicken wings are oven roasted and extremely similar to the way my mother makes them. They were especially plump, juicy and fragrantly seasoned, and topped with chunks of fried sweet onions. Each serving of ten was accompanied by a small triangle of plain focaccia that was just kind of "there." The beer selection consists of the usual suspects, with the addition of Peroni, but beer is available only in bottles. They also offer a dozen or so martinis with some unusual combinations; the "Fahrenheit 1000" consisted of a trio of citrus flavors with tart cranberry and lots of spicy hot pepper. It kind of felt like I was drinking a recipe from a crazy diet book... certainly unique but not something I'd want to drink more than once. Desserts are all made in-house, which I always appreciate. The tiramisu is mostly mascarpone and the cannoli isn't overly sweet, and I'd place both of these near the top of my respective lists for each. They were really quite delicious. The restaurant is not the "cozy, small-town" kind of place I mentioned earlier - far from it. In fact, it's quite sterile and borderline unpleasant. Big, naked windows; high, dark ceilings; chilly light grey paint. The stone wall that spans the length of the bar is a really nice touch, but like the focaccia with the chicken wings, it's just kind of "there" all by itself. A lone faux plant cluster in a wicker basket looks completely out of place perched on the long half-wall that separates the bar from the tables. There is a splash of color in the deep red accent wall surrounding the open kitchen area, but it gets lost in the kitchen's intense fluorescent glare. Why is one of the flatscreen TV's behind the bar tuned to a radio station? They have a long way to go to make this place look - and in turn, feel - more comfortable. On a positive note, the coal breaker photographs in their unique black tape frames pay homage to the area's heritage, a nice touch. Service was perfectly fine. Our server was attentive and sincere, a refreshing departure from the fake overcompensating bubbliness you find so often. I did notice another server smoking right outside the entrance. It's bad enough to be sitting in a restaurant and have a server who smells like smoke, but it's standard practice of any business that's open to the public for employees to smoke where they can't be seen. As I recall, there are no ashtrays in the immediate vicinity... you know where that butt ended up. So despite the nondescript atmosphere, I enjoyed this particular Colarusso's. It actually does add something new to the already congested NEPA pizzascape.

Cant believe I waited so long to try this place! First - best salad Ive had in a LONG time! Their house salad is amazing - huge, big enough for 2, (although I eat the entire thing myself) filled with all kinds of extras like roasted red peppers, olives, pepperoncini, lots of veggies and a slice of toasted flat bread. SO GOOD! Roasted chicken wings were delicious - they had a great wood fired flavor (totally different from spicy buffalo wings), they were large and cooked perfectly. I also love their grilled Portobello sandwich - very tasty vegetarian option if you're not in the mood for meat! I actually wasn't wild about their pizza, it was tasty with lots of unique options and flavor combinations - its just not where I'd go for pizza (Im a plain, no toppings, crunchy crust kinda girl). Very large open atmosphere, although tables felt kind of close together. Service was a little lacking but the food totally made up for it. I could eat here every night!

Was there Monday for lunch, ordered the tray of pizza. Service was extremely slow and poor. Nothing like waiting 10 minutes on a hot summer day to get your glass of soda. Pizza was a sicilian style and was only mediocre. I would not recommend going here.

I was quite impressed with this place. I've been to different Colarusso's locations before and always enjoyed the food, but this establishment is much, much different than the others. It has none of that "traditional Italian restaurant" kitsch that is so popular in pizzerias. The decor is very sleek and the dining area has a very open, airy feel unlike like most local restaurants. The artwork on the walls are pictures of old coal mining breakers that used to dot the area landscape. The breakers were ugly, hulking monstrosities but, somehow when hung on the wall they're not so bad. They also tie in with the "coal-fired" pizza ovens. We started off with an order of wings that were recommended. These are NOT Buffalo wings, the menu calls them "oven roasted chicken wings." Basically they are chicken wings with a coating of robust Italian seasonings (garlic,basil, oregano etc...) baked til they fall off the bone and then topped with caramelized onions. They were very good. In fact thats the way my mother always prepared chicken legs when I was growing up. We also ordered a regular pizza (tomatoes, blend of cheeses, basil) and a bianco (ricotta, blend of cheeses, caramelized onion.) The regular pizza had a thin yet chewy crust and the fresh basil was a nice touch. The bianco was also tasty but I prefered the tang of the tomatoes to cut through the cheese. We also learned that they make their own fresh mozzarella on site and, as the name says, they cook the pizza in a coal oven. Overall, a nice place for pizza. I did notice a sizable bar that looked pretty well stocked, but I just glanced and didn't actually order anything other than soda. I'll definitely be returning.

Really nice coal fired pizza, thin round pies with fresh ingredients. Not the square "old forge style" type that we are used to in this region. The place also boasts some tasty Italian style wings. They're roasted & seasoned with Italian herbs. Really nice & different from the usual buffalo wings served in most Pizza joints around here. Friendly staff & reasonable prices. It's a win!

We came because of the name, we'll go back for the food. The pizza was delicious, the wings were amazing (they are a must). Only qualm - I ordered a dirty vodka martini, the waiter asked how dirty I would like it on a scale of 1-10, I said 5, but it was far too dirty for my taste.

My boyfriend and I tried this place on a recommendation of a family friend who used to live in the area. Although the place was completely empty when we were there (to be fair it was 3pm), the food was really good. We shared a specialty pizza and sandwich. Both were delicious. Obviously due to the lack of other customers, our service was decent. I would definitely go back again.

WOW! We visited this place on a spur of the moment decision with all of our children...upon looking at the menu, I got nervous that maybe it was going to be a bit too much for kids tastes! Boy was I WRONG...all 3 of my kids couldn't stop raving about everything they had!! They beg to go there for dinner....amazing! Great food, nice atmosphere and wonderful service!!! Only 4 stars, because it is a bit pricey. :-)
